Its a Beautiful Day

Image
It is a beautiful day and I spent a little time at the craft table to play with my toys :) I am entering this card into the AAA CAS Challenge , Less is More - Solid and Outline , Just Us Girls - Turquoise , and Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge . I used the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set on SU! Whisper White card stock with black Versamark ink, then embossed with clear SU! embossing powder.  The flower was stamped first, then I masked it and did the background stamps.  I used SU! Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron and Pool Party (double-stamped to give it a lighter hue) Classic inks to layer the flower.  The sentiment is from the Altenew Poppy Paint-a-Flower set.  I mounted it on a SU! Crumb Cake background. This was not the first version of the card.  I actually made 3 total.  Here is where things went wrong! If you are masking you must mask each time, not just once.  I decided to add a couple flourishes to fill a little empty space above the floral stem and forgot to put the mask back

A whole bunch of cards - I've been busy this week!

Happy Saturday!  Today I have 5 cards to share with you. The first card was made for Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge : I started with a base of retired SU! Tranquil Tide card stock and die cut flowers from (I think) the Magnolia die set.  I put a layer from Tranquilly Eclectic DSP behind and popped up the flowers with Dimentionals.  I used Lemon Lime Twist and Soft Sky for the border and the sentiment is from retired Best Thoughts set stamped in Tranquil Tide.

Poppies galore

This week I had the chance to play around with Altenew's Paint a Flower Poppy stamp set.  I am loving the big, showy flower petals!  On the first card I stamped with Versicolor Black pigment ink on Strathmore Bristol cold-pressed watercolor paper.  The I watercolored with Karin Brushmarker Pro water color markers (LOVE!) and stamped the sentiment, also from the Poppy set with Versicolor.  I fussy-cut the leaves to make this a border-y card and layered on SU Crumb Cake card stock.  The green patterned paper is from retired SU Botanical Butterfly DSP. I am entering this card into Less is More #421 and Color Throwdown #597 challenges. The second card was also stamped with Versicolor Black pigment ink on Strathmore Bristol paper and colored with Karin markers then fussy-cut.  I mounted this on SU Thick Whisper White card stock and layered it on top of retired SU So Very Velum and See a Silhouette DSP.  The sentiment is from the Paint a Flower Anemone stamp set. I was late to the game

What I learned this week at the craft table

My Thursday night Zoom meeting always brings out the completion of a challenge or two (or 4!), but this week I noticed that many challenges focus was on flowers.  Lucky me!  I just got the new Paint-A-Flower Anemone stamp set from Altenew and I wanted to try it out. I stamped the big image on Bristol watercolor paper in black (purple)  and antique linen (blue) Ranger Distress Ink, then started with the watercolor.  This was my first learning moment!  The black Distress Ink bleeds when you watercolor it!  Sigh.  Ok, I'm moving on because its art and it all turned out fine in the end.  I used my new Karin Brushmarker Pro watercolor markers, and ya'll they are awesome!  This was my FIRST attempt to full-on watercolor and I ended up with a beautiful, striking bit of artwork that I am super proud of.  I tried several different coloring techniques between the two cards and the different layers and will keep working on it cause it was so much fun!                     I mounted the pur
