Chalkboard stamping

Image
This week I took on the challenge of making a chalkboard card.  I had forgotten how much fun these are to make!  It makes me remember school days and breaking into fall. This card was made for Global Design Project , Time Out Challenges , Less is More Challenge , The Color Throwdown , Hand Stamped Sentiments , and Case This Sketch .  I don't normally combine that many challenges, but it seems everyone has fall on their mind this week!   I started with Stampin' Up Basic Black card stock and pulled out my favorite fall stamps, French Foliage and Painted Harvest.  I stamped the leaves from French Foliage in Whisper White Craft ink.  I made a palate of pigment ink colors with Whisper White craft reinker mixed with Tangerine Tango, Terracotta Tile and Hello Honey inks.  I stamped the base of the sunflower several times in Tangerine Tango and quick heat set(the color kept soaking into the paper to the point I couldn't see the colors anymore!) then restamped again with Terracotta

Gettin' Beachy

School is back in session, virtally, of course and I want to go to the beach.  So.... Two challenge cards to post today. The first card is for CAS on Friday (Nature) (which I missed the linkup to), The Card Concept , Just Add Ink , Time Out Challenge and Sunday Stamps (which I ALSO missed the linkup to, grrrrr). I did this card twice, well actually 3 times, but twice that I liked :).  The card on the right was first.  I stamped Hero Arts Layering Waves on Stratmore Bristol watercolor paper with Stampin' Up ink: Seashore Spray, Misty Moonlight and Sahara Sand.  Then I brushed the sky with Soft Sky, Baja Breeze, Fresh Fig and Pale Plum.  I stamped the sentiments in Versamark and embossed with Hero Arts Sand embossing powder.  The sailboat is from OLLLDDD retired SU Toy Box stamped in Versamark Obsidian Black and colored with Whisper White craft ink.  Last, I made foam with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ivory Seashell.  I thought the sunset purple was a lot overdone, so I decided to try

Its time to BBQ!

Well, not really.  We are enjoying a 106 degree day today, which feels like 113.  Not fun, but my fan is on and I am seriously thankful to the people who invented the air conditioner and to God, who gave them the knowledge. I'm also thankful that tomorrow a cold front is coming so it will only be 95.  Summer in Texas!!      I have two cards to share today.  The first is for Color Throwdown #606 , Freshly Made Sketches #448 , and The Flower Challenge - Add Sparkle . I started with a piece of Stampin Up Whisper White card stock.  I cut away the middle to make the slash and used SU Pink glitter paper underneath, popping up the white above.  Then I added 2 strips of SU Gold glitter paper.  I stamped the florals (ferns) from the Forever Fern stamp set in Pool Party, Petal Pink, Powder Pink and Crumb Cake inks and fussy cut them.  Lastly I die cut the swirls from SU Swirly Snowflakes dies in Gold glitter paper.  The sentiment is also from Forever Fern and was stamped in Blushing Bri

Spring Flowers in August

Another week has flown by and August has come in with its normal heatwave.  I keep wishing for rain as the clouds part on their way through town.  Sigh, I'll go get the hose.... Today I have 2 cards to share with you. The first card starts with a base of Stampin' Up Terracotta Tile.  I love the mellow hue that it sets for the daffodils, and it reminded me of an unusual color combination that I have seen in a newer variety of the flower.  Just to clear the air... daffodils bloom in February in north Texas and are one of our first signs of spring.  So it isn't really a summer flower here, though I know other areas of the country/world it would bloom much later and might be considered an early summer flower.   I used a retired SU mask with SU Sparkle embossing paste mixed with a little terracotta ink to create the trellis pattern.  While that was drying I stamped the flowers with Altenew Paint-a-Flower Daffodils set in Versamark black and clear embossing powder.  I water color
