New ColourQ entry + Stampin' Up Retiring Products

This week's ColourQ challenge colors are Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Bravo Burgundy, and Very Vanilla.  At first glance this combo DID NOT appeal to me, but the more I thought on it the clearer my design became!  I love it when a card just snaps together!  




Now, in honor of the newly-released retirement list from Stampin' Up, I am using as many of those consumable products as possible.

This page uses Pocket full of Posies Designer Series paper, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry, Baha Breeze, and So Saffron card stock, labels framelit and Early Espresso bakers twine.  Poppy and Pear papers are retiring as well as Pocket DS paper and the stamp set I used for the journaling, Notes and Details, which is probably the best scrapbooking set I have seen in the catty in the past few years!



A little card I made for Pierce's birthday last month.  The retiring DS paper Well Worn is the background paper, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, River Rock, and Island Indigo card stock, with Need for Speed stamp set.

Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Early Espresso card stocks with the now-retiring Inspired by Nature stamp set and background embossing plate.
 
I entered this card in an SU monthly challenge in January and just now am posting it.  I truly LOVE this stamp set, Notably Ornate, but off it goes!  Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush cards stocks are retiring too, as is the lace border punch.

School is back in session, virtally, of course and I want to go to the beach.  So.... Two challenge cards to post today. The first card is for CAS on Friday (Nature) (which I missed the linkup to), The Card Concept , Just Add Ink , Time Out Challenge and Sunday Stamps (which I ALSO missed the linkup to, grrrrr). I did this card twice, well actually 3 times, but twice that I liked :).  The card on the right was first.  I stamped Hero Arts Layering Waves on Stratmore Bristol watercolor paper with Stampin' Up ink: Seashore Spray, Misty Moonlight and Sahara Sand.  Then I brushed the sky with Soft Sky, Baja Breeze, Fresh Fig and Pale Plum.  I stamped the sentiments in Versamark and embossed with Hero Arts Sand embossing powder.  The sailboat is from OLLLDDD retired SU Toy Box stamped in Versamark Obsidian Black and colored with Whisper White craft ink.  Last, I made foam with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ivory Seashell.  I thought the sunset purple was a lot overdone, so I decided to try

Spring Flowers in August

Another week has flown by and August has come in with its normal heatwave.  I keep wishing for rain as the clouds part on their way through town.  Sigh, I'll go get the hose.... Today I have 2 cards to share with you. The first card starts with a base of Stampin' Up Terracotta Tile.  I love the mellow hue that it sets for the daffodils, and it reminded me of an unusual color combination that I have seen in a newer variety of the flower.  Just to clear the air... daffodils bloom in February in north Texas and are one of our first signs of spring.  So it isn't really a summer flower here, though I know other areas of the country/world it would bloom much later and might be considered an early summer flower.   I used a retired SU mask with SU Sparkle embossing paste mixed with a little terracotta ink to create the trellis pattern.  While that was drying I stamped the flowers with Altenew Paint-a-Flower Daffodils set in Versamark black and clear embossing powder.  I water color

3 cards in 3 hours

Tonight was craft Zoom night, so I have 3 more cards for challenges completed.  I am really loving the time together when we can't be together! The first card is for Global Design Project and the Papercraft Card Challenge.   I started with Stampin' Up Whisper White card stock with Concord & 9th Feathered stamp set in SU Dapper Denim (because I don't have Misty Moonlight yet), Pool Party and Petal Pink.  I masked the floral feather and stamped the upright one.  The washi tape is retired SU and the sentiment is from  set and is cut with an SU die, not sure what set it came from.  This is layered on a Petal Pink card stock base.
